Immediately smoother, brighter skin with zero downtime. Results last 3 to 4 weeks as cell turnover gradually catches back up.
What it is
Dermaplaning uses a sterile, single-use surgical blade held at a specific angle to gently shave away the outermost layer of dead skin along with the fine facial hair on top of it. It's a physical exfoliation - no acids, no heat - that removes buildup your at-home skincare can't reach.
Unlike a razor, the blade and technique lift off the top layer of the stratum corneum along with the vellus hair. That's why skin looks noticeably smoother and feels softer after a single treatment. And contrary to the myth, the hair grows back at the same fine, soft texture - it does not come back thicker or darker. Your estheticians Brooke or Tasha customize depth and pressure to your skin type and sensitivity.
We perform dermaplaning at our Cherry Creek studio at 36 Steele St, Suite 100, serving guests from across Denver - including nearby Cherry Creek North, Country Club, Congress Park, Belcaro, Hilltop, and Hale, as well as Capitol Hill, Washington Park, and the broader Denver metro. Most clients can reach us within a 10-minute drive. We're in Cherry Creek North on Steele Street, directly across from the Cherry Creek Shopping Center and walking distance to Fillmore Plaza.
Many clients weigh related options like VI Peel and PRX Derm Perfexion. For dosing, longevity, and aftercare in depth, see our Dermaplaning Guide.
What to expect
Appointments take about 30 minutes. After cleansing, your esthetician holds the blade at a 45-degree angle and moves in short, feather-light strokes across your face, avoiding the eyelids, nose, and lips. There's no pain, no downtime, and no peeling afterward. We finish with a hydrating serum and SPF.
You can wear makeup immediately after, though we recommend skipping heavy exfoliants, retinoids, and AHA/BHA products for 24 hours to let the skin settle. Hair regrows at its normal fine texture over 3 to 4 weeks, which is also the point at which most clients re-book for maintenance.

Can I combine dermaplaning with other treatments?
Yes - dermaplaning pairs well with most facial and skincare treatments. It is often combined with a chemical peel, hydrating mask, or LED therapy in the same appointment, since the freshly exfoliated skin absorbs active ingredients more effectively. Many clients schedule dermaplaning 2 to 3 days before a major event such as a wedding or photoshoot, when smooth, makeup-ready skin matters most. Your esthetician can recommend the right combination based on your goals.
Is dermaplaning safe? Will it cause breakouts or irritation?
Dermaplaning is very safe when performed by a licensed esthetician using sterile, single-use blades. There is no chemical exfoliation, no thermal energy, and no penetration of the skin - the blade only removes what is on the surface. Most clients experience no irritation. Dermaplaning is not recommended if you have active acne, cystic breakouts, or open lesions in the treatment area, since the blade should not pass over inflamed skin. Your esthetician will assess your skin before each session.
How often should I get dermaplaning?
Most clients schedule dermaplaning every 4 weeks, which aligns with your skin's natural cell turnover cycle. This cadence maintains continuous smoothness and lets the treatment work synergistically with your skincare - products absorb significantly more effectively right after dermaplaning. You can space treatments further apart if you prefer, but going much longer than 6 weeks allows the dead skin and vellus hair to fully return.
Will dermaplaning make my facial hair grow back thicker or darker?
No. This is one of the most common myths about dermaplaning. The hair we remove is vellus hair - the soft, fine peach fuzz on your face - which is genetically distinct from coarse terminal hair. Vellus hair grows back at the same fine texture and the same color it was before. The freshly cut edge can feel slightly different than the natural tapered tip for the first few days, but the hair itself does not change.
What is dermaplaning and how does it work?
Dermaplaning is a gentle exfoliation that uses a sterile, single-use surgical blade held at a precise angle to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells along with the soft vellus hair - peach fuzz - on your face. Your esthetician glides the blade across the skin in short, controlled strokes. The treatment takes about 30 minutes, involves no needles or chemicals, and leaves skin instantly smoother and brighter.
