What it is
A lip flip is a small amount of neuromodulator placed along the upper lip border. It relaxes the orbicularis oris muscle just enough that the upper lip rolls slightly outward, showing more of the lip tissue you already have.
It doesn’t add volume - that’s what filler does.
If your upper lip tends to thin out or curl inward when you smile, a flip helps it stay soft and visible instead of disappearing. It’s one of the most subtle treatments we do - people won’t know you had anything done.
Our Cherry Creek clinic at 36 Steele St, Suite 100 serves lip flip patients from across Denver - including nearby Cherry Creek North, Country Club, Congress Park, Belcaro, Hilltop, and Hale, as well as Capitol Hill, Washington Park, and the broader Denver metro. Most clients can reach us within a 10-minute drive. We're located on Steele Street directly across from the Cherry Creek Shopping Center, with Fillmore Plaza just steps away.
Many clients weigh related options like Dysport and Jeuveau. For dosing, longevity, and aftercare in depth, see our Lip Flip.
What to expect
This is a fast appointment - about 5 minutes of injection time. We’ll place 4 to 6 small injections along your upper lip border. It stings slightly more than other areas because the lip is sensitive, but it’s brief.
Results take 3 to 5 days to appear as the muscle relaxes. The effect is subtle - a gentle eversion of the upper lip, not a dramatic change. It lasts about 6 to 8 weeks, shorter than standard Botox because the lip muscle is very active.

Service FAQs

Does a lip flip affect my ability to drink or speak?
During the first day or two, you may notice a slight adjustment in how your lips feel when drinking through a straw or pronouncing certain sounds. This is very subtle and resolves quickly as you get used to the effect. It should not noticeably impact speech.
How is a lip flip different from lip filler?
A lip flip enhances the shape of your lip by relaxing the muscle, while filler adds actual volume with hyaluronic acid gel. The flip is subtler and works best for patients who want a slight pout or whose upper lip curls inward when smiling. Many patients do both for a complete result.
What is a lip flip and how does it work?
A lip flip uses a small amount of neuromodulator - typically Botox or Dysport - injected into the orbicularis oris muscle along the upper lip border. This relaxes the muscle just enough to let the upper lip roll slightly outward, creating a fuller appearance without adding any volume.
How much do Lip Flip injections cost?
Lip Flip costs vary by provider and location, but typically range from $150-$400 per treatment, making it one of the more affordable injectable treatments available. The cost depends on the type of neuromodulator used (Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau) and the amount of product needed to achieve your desired results. Since a Lip Flip uses very small amounts of product compared to full-face Botox treatment, it's often more budget-friendly. Many providers offer package pricing if you combine a Lip Flip with other injectable treatments. During your consultation, ask for transparent pricing based on your specific treatment plan, and inquire about any loyalty programs or package deals that might be available.
How long do Lip Flip results last?
Lip Flip results typically last 3 to 4 months, similar to standard Botox or other neuromodulator treatments. The duration varies based on individual metabolism, the amount of product used, and how quickly your body metabolizes the neuromodulator. Some clients experience results lasting up to 5 months, while others may notice diminishing effects around the 3-month mark. Most practitioners recommend scheduling maintenance treatments every 3-4 months to maintain your desired lip appearance. Because results are gradual in onset (3-7 days) and gradual in fade, you'll have time to book your next appointment before the effect completely wears off.
What is the difference between a Lip Flip and lip fillers?
A Lip Flip uses neuromodulator to relax the muscle around the mouth, causing the lip to subtly turn outward and appear fuller without adding volume. Lip fillers, by contrast, add volume directly to the lip tissue itself, creating more dramatic fullness and definition. A Lip Flip creates a subtle enhancement that looks very natural, while fillers can be customized to create anything from barely-there fullness to dramatically plumped lips. Many clients combine both treatments for optimal results: a Lip Flip for subtle definition and the orbicularis oris muscle relaxation, plus fillers for actual volume and shape. Your practitioner can recommend the best approach based on your lip shape, proportions, and aesthetic goals.
