RF Microneedling
Radiofrequency heat through microneedles that tightens skin and remodels deep tissue.

You might consider this if these apply to you
Skin texture, scarring, or laxity that needs more than surface-level treatment
Fine lines and loose skin
Acne scars or large pores
Want tightening beyond basic microneedling
Results and how long they last
Initial smoothing within weeks, progressive improvement over 3-6 months. Best with 3-6 sessions.
What it is
RF microneedling combines physical microneedling with radiofrequency energy. Ultra-fine needles penetrate to a controlled depth while delivering RF energy directly into the dermis. The needles trigger wound-healing, and the RF heats deeper tissue for collagen and elastin production.
This dual mechanism produces stronger remodeling than microneedling alone - the RF adds tissue-tightening that standard microneedling can’t achieve. Needle depth, energy level, and pulse duration are all adjustable, so we can treat delicate under-eye skin and thick body skin in the same session.
Our Cherry Creek clinic at 36 Steele St, Suite 100 serves RF microneedling patients from across Denver - including nearby Cherry Creek North, Country Club, Congress Park, Belcaro, Hilltop, and Hale, as well as Capitol Hill, Washington Park, and the broader Denver metro. Most clients can reach us within a 10-minute drive. Our Steele Street location sits across from the Cherry Creek Shopping Center in the heart of Cherry Creek North.
Many clients weigh related options like SkinPen Microneedling and PRP Microneedling. For dosing, longevity, and aftercare in depth, see our RF Microneedling Guide.
What to expect
Plan for 45 to 60 minutes total including numbing time. During treatment, you’ll feel pressure and warmth as the device stamps across the skin. The topical anesthetic handles most of the sensation, though deeper settings on bony areas feel more intense.
Redness resolves in 24 to 48 hours, makeup can go on after 24 hours. Your skin will feel smoother within a couple weeks, but real improvements happen over 3 to 6 months. Most clients do 3 to 6 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.

What concerns does RF microneedling address?
RF microneedling is excellent for acne scars, enlarged pores, fine lines, skin laxity, stretch marks, and overall texture improvement. It's particularly effective on the lower face and jawline where early laxity tends to appear, and can also treat the neck, décolletage, and body areas.
Is RF microneedling safe for darker skin tones?
Yes - RF microneedling is one of the safest advanced skin treatments for all skin tones, including darker complexions. Because the energy is delivered below the skin's surface through insulated needles, there's minimal risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation compared to laser treatments.
What's the downtime for RF microneedling?
Expect two to four days of redness and mild swelling - similar to a moderate sunburn. Most patients feel comfortable returning to social activities by day three. Mineral makeup can be applied after 24 hours. More aggressive treatment settings may extend downtime by a day or two.
How many RF microneedling sessions do I need?
Most patients see meaningful results after three to four sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. The collagen remodeling process continues for months after each session, so results keep improving between treatments. Maintenance sessions one to two times per year help sustain the benefits.
What makes RF microneedling different from regular microneedling?
RF microneedling combines the collagen-stimulating benefits of traditional microneedling with radiofrequency energy delivered through the needle tips. This dual mechanism triggers collagen remodeling at deeper dermal layers than needling alone, making it significantly more effective for scarring, laxity, and texture concerns.
Is RF microneedling painful?
RF Microneedling involves minimal discomfort. We apply topical numbing cream before treatment to enhance comfort. Most patients tolerate the procedure well and describe only mild sensations. Post-treatment redness and swelling resolve quickly.
What aftercare is essential following RF microneedling?
Avoid direct sun exposure for 4 weeks and use broad-spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen daily. Keep skin clean and use prescribed healing products. Avoid heat, strenuous exercise, and swimming for the first week. Follow all aftercare instructions to optimize results.
Is RF microneedling safe for all skin types?
RF microneedling is generally safe for all skin types when performed by experienced professionals using appropriate settings. However, darker skin types may have a slightly higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which is why careful technique and proper post-treatment care are essential. Our team performs thorough skin assessments and customizes RF settings for your specific skin tone to ensure safe, effective treatment with minimal risk of unwanted side effects.
How many RF microneedling treatments are needed?
Most patients see significant results from 3-4 RF microneedling sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart, with continued improvement as collagen remodeling deepens over several months. Some patients may benefit from a single session for minor concerns, while others with extensive damage or advanced aging may benefit from a full series of 4-6 treatments. Your provider will develop a personalized treatment plan based on your skin condition and goals to achieve optimal results.
What skin concerns does RF microneedling treat best?
RF microneedling excels at treating moderate to severe wrinkles, skin laxity, deep acne scars, surgical scars, skin texture irregularities, and overall skin tightening. It's particularly effective for jowls, fine lines around the eyes and mouth, and areas showing signs of significant aging or sun damage. The combination of mechanical needling and radiofrequency energy creates more dramatic collagen production than standard microneedling, making it ideal for patients seeking comprehensive facial rejuvenation with visible lifting and tightening results.
What is RF microneedling and how does it differ from regular microneedling?
RF Microneedling combines radiofrequency energy with mechanical needling to create micro-injuries that trigger collagen production while delivering heat deep into the dermis. The radiofrequency tightens skin through thermal energy while needling stimulates collagen. Results include improved texture, tightening, and rejuvenation.
